How to properly care for your NEFF kitchen
The old saying goes, “you only get out of life what you put in,” and the same can be said about kitchens. While that’s definitely true about the delicious food you’re creating, you can’t expect your appliances to stay in top condition if you’re not giving them the love and care they need. From cleaning to maintenance, here’s our top tips to help you care for your NEFF appliances so they stay in that practically brand new condition for years to come.
Read your manual
It should go without saying, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t read their instruction manuals beyond the quick start guide. Not sure what types of pans to use with your new induction cooktop? Your manual will give you the answer – as well as helpful instructions so you can test the compatibility of any pot or pan you want to use. Not sure if you’re using the right setting or shelf with your baking? Head to the back of your manual for our handy guides. Don’t panic if you lose your manual – they can all be downloaded from their product page on the NEFF website.
Clean your kitchen as you go
When it comes to cleaning your appliances, it’s always easier to do it when the spills are fresh. Stay on top of your cleaning with every cook and you’ll find it easier to keep your appliances looking like they just walked out of the showroom.
Use the right products
It’s important to read your manual to know how to properly clean your NEFF appliances, but you should also ensure you’re using the right products. Different surfaces have different needs and using the wrong cleaner or the wrong method can be detrimental to the health of your appliances.
Your manual will tell you the best way to clean each element of your appliance as well as the recommended products to use. Want to ensure you’re using the best cleaning product for your appliance? Our highly recommended cleaning products can be purchased through our after-sales service.
Don’t ignore descaling with steam products
Descaling is an important part of appliance maintenance when there are water elements involved – such as our steam ovens or coffee machine. The frequency with which your appliance will need to be descaled depends on the hardness of your water, but your appliance should remind you if it needs to be descaled and functionality will be limited until the cycle is complete.
Set a reminder for deep cleaning
While cleaning your appliances after every use can stop a visible build-up of food from forming and even our Easy Clean and Pyrolytic Self-Cleaning functions can make regularly cleaning your oven a breeze, every kitchen will benefit from a deep clean every now and then.
Set yourself some reminders throughout the year to give your whole kitchen a thorough cleaning. From your oven door and your rangehood vents, to all your appliances and racks, pull out the NEFF-approved cleaning products and get into all the nooks and crannies until your kitchen is sparkling.
Ask NEFF if you’re unsure about how to care for your kitchen
Whether something has gone wrong and you need your appliance repaired or a part replaced, get in touch with our friendly customer service team to get it sorted as soon as possible. They can also help with minor questions to help you get the most out of your appliances.
Our favourite homemade American dinners and desserts
From deep-fried and cheesy comfort foods, to moreish dinners packed with flavour and love, American cuisine has a lot to offer your recipe book.
Build an American-inspired menu next time you’re hosting with these easy and delicious recipes – packed with sentiment and southern comfort, but with a sophisticated foodie’s twist.
Finger-licking sticky pork ribs
These hands-on sticky ribs are irresistible to guests of all ages. The garlic and chilli glaze has hints of paprika, fennel and star anise to elevate the flavour profile to a new level, while your CircoTherm® oven makes for a seamless cooking process (and perfectly cooked, tender meat).
Three cheese macaroni cheese
This extra cheesy take on a southern classic is packed with creamy goodness and the coveted crispy, golden grilled cheese on top. A sure win for any dinner party or barbeque – especially with the kids.
Not-so-New York Lemon Cheesecake
It may not be a baked cheesecake from a café near Central Park, but it’s enough to delight even the most discerning palate at your next dinner party. With a hint of lemon and a rich creamy filling, this decadent cheesecake recipe is one of the most popular recipes in the NEFF kitchen.
Pulled Pork Sliders
Americans love their black coffee and a good slow-cooked pulled pork. This recipe combines the best of the two into a spiced pork shoulder slider – perfect for eating on the go and served with a delicious fresh slaw. Your NEFF VarioSteam oven will make this recipe easy as American pie.
Almost-buffalo Chicken Wings
With a spicy tomato dipping sauce and a touch of crispy coconut, these crumbed chicken wings are calling your name. Great for dinner with a fresh salad to complement, or served buffet-style at your next barbeque, they’re surprisingly easy to make (and even easier to eat).
Eggplant in Coconut Mustard Curry
Place the eggplant pieces in a sieve and sprinkle the salt and turmeric on top and rub it well on the eggplant. Leave it aside for an hour to help get the excess moisture out.
Place them on paper towel and rub off all the excess moisture. Fill a pan 1/3rd with oil and once it reaches 190°C gently fry the eggplant pieces in it until golden on medium to high heat. This might take 4-5 minutes and will have to be done in batches. Now in the same oil fry the potatoes as well, until golden.
To make the curry heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin, mustard and fennel seeds. Let them sizzle for a few seconds and add the onions. Once they start to turn golden add the ginger, chilli and cook for minute before adding the spices, mustard and coconut milk. Bring it to a boil.
Now add the fried eggplant and potatoes to it and cook for 2 minutes. Serve it hot with some coconut rice. View our rice recipe here.
3 ways to give your salmon recipes a twist this summer
Not only is salmon a delicious locally-fished choice for Australians wanting to add fresh fish to their menu – it’s also one of the more sustainable options. And the bright, light fish is full of healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, boasting a beautiful moist texture.
From nutty almond pairings to ginger-infused glazes, these three summer salmon recipes are sure to surprise and delight the tastebuds of your family and friends:
Fried salmon with curried almonds
Although it might seem strange to pair nuts and a curry recipe with fish, this dish is packed with perfectly balanced flavours and textures. The curried almonds give the salmon a burst of complexity, and pair beautifully with a delicate mix of fresh coriander and spring onion. Sure to impress any guest, and easy to whip up in a NEFF CircoTherm® oven!
Lime and ginger glazed salmon
Served with a side of coriander rice and steamed greens, this Asian-inspired salmon dish is full of colourful flavour. The glaze is an easy (but rather sophisticated) mix of lime marmalade, lime juice, sugar, soy, garlic, ginger, chilli and lemongrass – perfect for a summer bite packed with light, sticky heat.
Salmon with capsicum, chorizo and mango
Our signature snapper recipe works perfectly with fresh salmon too, and could not be more ideal for a summer lunch in the Australian sun with your family. The chorizo-mango salsa is a firm favourite of ours – spicy, sweet and just bold enough to balance out the flavours of the salmon. Serve with a side of fragrant coconut rice.
What type of rangehood do I need?
Many people think that you only need a rangehood for your cooktop in the event that something gets burnt. However, rangehoods are essential for keeping the air you breathe clean while you’re in the kitchen, and preventing a build-up of steam and grease on your kitchen cupboards.
When you’re planning a new kitchen, the type of rangehood you get can depend on a number of different factors, but we can help you to decide which would work best for you.
Wall-mounted rangehoods
These are one of the most common types of rangehoods. Wall-mounted above your cooktop, they act as a canopy above you as you cook. With NEFF’s efficient SilentDrive, our wall-mounted rangehoods not only save up to 80% energy but are whisper quiet when the fan is in use. With the addition of LED illumination, you’ll always be able to see what you’re cooking.
These types of rangehoods are recommended for more traditional bench-set cooktops, and can be installed to operate in Exhaust Air Mode (where the air is cleaned by grease filters and sent outside through a series of pipes) or in Circulating Air Mode (where the air is drawn in, cleaned by grease filters and an activated carbon filter before being recirculated back into the kitchen).

Integrated and Slideout Rangehoods
Your rangehood is one of the most functional appliances in your kitchen, but that doesn’t mean it has to work against the aesthetic appeal and clean lines you worked so hard to build. Our Slideout rangehoods are designed to slide out when you need them and can be pushed back to sit flush with your cupboards when not in use.
Integrated rangehoods are designed to be fitted within your overhead canopy kitchen unit. Their discreet design helps to save space and preserve the look of your kitchen. They’re perfect for kitchens where space is at a premium, and with quiet exhaust fans and LED lighting you can stay focussed on what you’re cooking.

Worktop rangehoods
Not all rangehoods need to sit overhead. In fact, our worktop rangehoods can be a great all-in-one solution. This two-in-one appliance fits the rangehood into the centre of your cooktop, making it the perfect appliance for open plan kitchens with an island. Without an overhead rangehood, you can have unobstructed views of your living space as you cook.
With double flex induction cooktops, you have plenty of room for all your cooking, with the size and shape of your pots automatically detected and the heat adjusted for their exact location. The removable magnetic TwistPadFire® dial can also let you control both the induction cooktop and the ventilation settings from one central control zone.

Classic Potato Salad
Place egg in the perforated stainless steel tray and place in FullSteam oven. Select Steam Programs > Speciality Dishes > Soft Boiled Egg and press start. Allow egg to cool for 5 minutes.
Place potatoes on the large perforated stainless steel tray and place in FullSteam Oven. Select Steam 100⁰C and cook for 20 minutes or until cooked. Rinse potatoes with cold water and allow to drain and cool.
In a bowl of a small food processor add the mustard, lemon juice and water. Carefully remove the shell from the egg and place only the egg yolk into the food processor bowl. Blend to combine and with the motor running slowly add the oil. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Set aside.
Preheat oven on Grill, large area to 250⁰C. If using the FullSteam oven, wipe oven interior to remove excess water. Place wire rack on the enamel tray and grill bacon until golden and crisp, cooking on both sides. Allow bacon to cool on paper towel.
In a large serving bowl add the shallot, herbs, cornichons, capers and potatoes. Dress with as much of the mayonnaise as you like and stir until well combined. Roughly chop bacon and top salad.

Grown up lunchbox recipes
Here in the NEFF kitchen, we’ve got some tips, recipes and ideas for the perfect grownup lunch box – filled with fuel for when you’re heading back to work.
No matter what you choose, variety is key. Try to make a few different things each week to keep it interesting, and don’t forget to pack some fresh fruit, nuts or raw vegetables and dips as a snack.
Leverage your leftovers
If you’re passionate about cooking delicious meals for your family and friends at home, chances are that your suppers are already hearty, wholesome and delicious. Why not kill two meals with one stone and make a little extra each evening? You can repurpose the leftovers the next day – an easy and stress-free addition to your lunch box.
Hot tip: Some foods keep better than others, so ensure you plan ahead. For example, a serving of comforting Vegetable Gratin or just as good after a few nights in the fridge and a quick reheat in the oven, but a salad may not. Our Potato Focaccia also holds its flavour, making for a delicious second take once warmed up.
Opt for quick and easy
Not all meals require hours spent slaving over a stove. Whip up a lunch box meal that fills you up, but doesn’t fill up your time – you can make these the night before, or make use of your office kitchen if available.
We love a plate of Tomato and Basil Linguini for lunch, which only takes 30 minutes to whip up alongside your dinner. Our Asian chicken meatball soup is just as easy – taking less than half an hour to throw together using the NEFF FullSteam function.
Bite sized is the right size
Sometimes, the hardest part of making lunch to go is trying to transport it in your bag without major spills or the hassle of plastic bags and extra packaging. If you can, choose easy-to-handle portions of your favourite meals when you’re planning your lunches.
For example, our Chilli Thai chicken cakes are perfect for a small midday snack, best served with a small container of sweet lime dipping sauce. A slice of French onion quiche also makes for easy transportation, with no risk of mess. Or, why not try baking our aforementioned vegetable gratin in smaller individual containers to begin with? No serving needed, just delicious ready-to-go nutrition.
The top food trends from 2018
From the revival of the rainbow and the delicate natural beauty of edible flowers, to the bold colours lining our pantries in DIY preserves and pickles, 2018 was full of bright delights.
But just because it was a trend doesn’t mean it’s fleeting. Here in the NEFF kitchen, some of these popular dishes are here to stay. We’ve put together the top 5 food trends of the last year, with a few tips and tricks to bring them to life in your own home kitchen:
Rainbow desserts
Inspired in no small part by Australia’s Yes Vote celebrations, rainbow-coloured desserts saw a resurgence in 2018. Made with layers of brightly coloured ingredients stacked on top of each other, these colourful sweets made dessert tables exciting and offered a bold surprise upon first bite. From white-iced cakes filled with every colour of the rainbow, to dessert tables lined with bite-sized multi-coloured delicacies, 2018 was seen in technicolour. Touch up on your cake baking and macaron making skills, get the food colouring out, and paint the dinner table in all the colours of the rainbow.
Edible flowers
In 2018, not all that glittered was gold, and not all that grew was edible. But a small selection of beautiful blooms found their place onto our tables, incorporated into desserts and summer dishes. Why not brighten up your pavlova or top your cheesecake with a crystallised bouquet? You can even add them to salads to give them an elegant edge.
Fermented fever
From kombucha and homemade pickles to preserves, sauerkraut and kimchi, 2018 was the year of fermented food. With health trends on the rise, the nutritious, probiotic-rich foods are full of goodness, flavour and colour. Why not experiment with preserving your own chillies before the summer is out?
Sustainable seafood
This year, even the most avid foodies began taking more care with their food choices to help the planet out – and the world of seafood was a key where sustainability was served up on everyone’s menus. Picking carefully-fished species became a big sway in chef decisions across the country, and home cooks quickly followed suit. And it’s safe to say this trend is here to stay - we can’t go past a lime and ginger glazed salmon, a kaffir lime trout or a chorizo and capsicum snapper this summer.
Comfort food
We’re not sure it ever really went out of style, but 2018 was certainly the year of the home-cooked, sentimental meal. From creamy cheesy bakes to your grandmother’s signature Aussie lamington recipe, the past year was filled with the smells and tastes of home. But it wasn’t all stodgy, rich foods for winter – decadent desserts and the humble toasted sandwich also had a resurgence and gave comfort food a year-round edge. While home-cooked ruled with this trend, if you’re keen on a night out instead, here’s where to find the best comfort foods in Australia.
