  1. The best in-built and integrated appliances for your kitchen

Comments Off on The best in-built and integrated appliances for your kitchen

If you’re passionate about home cooking, you probably have some of the best kitchen appliances and gadgets to integrate into your space during a renovation.

Even in a large kitchen, there’s an art to fitting in a rangehood, oven, dishwasher, warming drawer, cooktop and fridge, as well as all your coffee machine, microwave and smaller kitchen appliances – all while avoiding being overwhelmed by a sea of technology.

So how can you have all the appliances you want and make everything integrate seamlessly? We’ve got five tips to get you started.

    1. Speak to your builder or designer about fully integrated appliances

Fully integrated appliances have an appliance panel, which is a bespoke cabinetry that’s installed over your appliance door to give the impression that they’re just part of the cabinetry. The panel is fixed to your appliance door and opens in tandem to reveal the inner workings, without crowding your kitchen.

At NEFF, we offer fully integrated dishwashers for the ultimate seamless look.

Whoever’s managing your renovation will be able to recommend materials and surfaces that would best work for your hidden appliance design. Many people choose to go with subtle panelling that matches the surrounding materials. You’ll be surprised at what a difference it makes to the aesthetic and minimalist feel.

    2. Choose integrated rangehoods

Rangehoods are an essential addition to your kitchen, but they can also be cumbersome. While a wall-mounted rangehood will do the job of extracting smells and steam from your cooking experience, you might want to opt for an integrated or slide-out design.

These sleek stainless steel rangehoods take up less space and are professionally installed to fit in with your kitchen design.

    3. Consider a built-in microwave

Tabletop microwaves can be bulky, and often take up valuable space on your counters or cupboards that could be put towards décor or other small appliances. Why not consider making room for your family, and opting for a built-in NEFF microwave that integrates seamlessly into your cabinets?

You could purchase a full NEFF oven with microwave functionality as an alternative. This halves the space needed to house your major appliances and gives you more options for cooking every day. These ovens also feature the Slide & Hide® fully disappearing door, which gives you full access to your creations for tasting and basting.

Plus, did you know that our new Flex Design range is inclusive of our oven-microwaves? This new versatile accessory allows you to add four bespoke colours to your appliance’s trims and handles. So if you want a kitchen with black appliances, then add our deep black trim and handle option to your oven, cooktop, rangehood and coffee machine. Want a more industrial look instead? Then consider the brushed bronze – endless style possibilities for your fully integrated kitchen!

    4. Use the island to save more space in the kitchen

A kitchen island is one of the best places you can hide appliances and they look great in myriad kitchen styles. You can use the island to integrate your oven or dishwasher, but it’s also a great storage options to keep smaller appliances out of sight – the lower shelves are perfect for stowing away any distracting kitchen appliances that might be taking up meal prep space on your kitchen counter.

A must-have addition for your kitchen island is a vented cooktop. This two-in-one appliance combines the sleekness of an induction cooktop with the functions of a range hood. It automatically absorbs cooking odours, allowing you to cook up a storm without any unnecessary smells. And if you want to add your personal flair to the appliance, or match your cooktop with the island materials, then you can add coloured trimmings with the new Flex Design range. This range gives you the option to add coloured trimmings and handles to your cooktop. And with four distinct colours to choose from, the design possibilities are endless.

    Install deep drawers

If fully integrating your appliances isn’t for you, choosing smart storage solutions can make hiding away appliances a breeze.

Deep drawers make the perfect home for bulkier appliances, like mixers and blenders. Pulling out a drawer to find what you needs is much easier than poking around in the depths of a cupboard. The result – your appliances are accessible at a moment’s notice, while not taking up any of your valuable bench space.

You can seamlessly integrate your oven and drawers with the new Flex Design range. With four different colours to choose from, you can add trimmings to your oven that seamlessly combine with NEFF warming drawers for a fully integrated look and keeping your dishes warm when entertaining your guests.

  2. The ultimate kitchen renovation guide

Comments Off on The ultimate kitchen renovation guide

Renovating your kitchen can be an exciting time for home cooks. It gives you a fantastic opportunity to bring your kitchen dreams to life – think designing the perfect baker’s kitchen, bringing your vintage flair into the kitchen or even renovating to sell.

But there are some things you’ll need to consider, no matter how big or small your kitchen reno is. From knowing what to plan for to choosing the right appliances, we’ve got the information you need to start and complete your next kitchen renovation with confidence.

How to plan a kitchen renovation

Spending a good amount of time planning is key to kitchen renovation success – our NEFF customers can attest to that. As a starting point, reflect on the type of cook you are. Do you do a lot of baking and require multiple ovens? Or do you entertain regularly and need ample space to cook and socialise?

By working out what your cooking and entertaining style is, you can narrow down what you actually need for your new kitchen. You can also use our helpful kitchen renovation checklist to keep track of the services and trades you need, the kitchen design you want and more.

To avoid one of the most common kitchen renovation mistakes people can make, ensure that you have a budget. This can help you manage the expectations of your renovation’s cost and avoid overspending during the process.

Where can you find kitchen style and inspiration?

There are many ways you can find kitchen design inspiration. You can head to social media and see what’s trending, or even subscribe to some home design publications to know what looks good in a glossy magazine.

Your kitchen’s floorplan is something you’ll need to consider when defining your style. For example, a narrow and small kitchen might be better suited for a minimalist look, while a larger kitchen with ample space might be better for a bold and loud appearance.

But at the end of the day, your kitchen’s style should be uniquely your own. If you want to embrace kitchen design trends or create your own look, then go for it – no one’s stopping you!

    What appliances do you need?

A big part of your kitchen renovation is choosing new appliances. An oven is a kitchen essential and is an appliance you should splurge on to ensure you’re getting quality results with your cooking each time. There are also different types of ovens to choose from too, which will all come down to your specific needs.

A cooktop is another must-have quality appliance for any kitchen. When choosing a cooktop, it’s important to determine where it will be within the kitchen. Will you have it on your kitchen island? Or will it be above the stovetop? This can help you determine the type of cooktop that you can have.

If you want to tie in your appliances with your kitchen’s design, then the NEFF Flex Design range is a must-have. Choose one of four fascinating colours to add to the trimmings and handles for a seamless kitchen aesthetic. Plus, you can use this versatile accessory on your NEFF cooktop, rangehood, coffee machine and oven – including our innovative Slide & Hide® oven!

5 quick renovation tips to get your started

    – You can DIY some parts of your kitchen renovation to reduce costs and add a personal touch to your space. But leave the bigger tasks to the professionals.

    – Double check your own measurements or those of your tradie’s before making big appliance purchases. This can help you avoid one of the biggest renovation traps out there and ensure your appliances fit perfectly.

    – Lock in your trades once you’ve worked out what services you need. This is an essential step in starting any kitchen renovation.

    – Research your appliances and know what you’re investing in. You can book in a free NEFF product demonstration so you can see our range in person before buying.

    – Don’t choose style over function. The last thing you need is completing your kitchen renovation only to realise it’s impractical to use.

  3. 5 things to think about when planning a kitchen renovation

Comments Off on 5 things to think about when planning a kitchen renovation

    1. What’s your renovation budget?

Your budget is the first thing you need to think about before you can start making a renovation plan. You need to work out your target budget, which is how much you want to work within and everything from tradies to final fixtures.

It’s also a good idea to have an emergency buffer, just in case your renovation comes up against any unexpected costs. A good amount of buffer to have is around 10–20% of your main budget.

There are some things you can splurge and save on, such as ovens and microwaves respectively. If you’re clever with what you save on, you can funnel those extra funds towards the larger purchases, like investing in a NEFF Slide & Hide® oven or a built-in coffee machine.

    2. How can you show your personal style?

Your kitchen’s style should reflect your personal tastes and be on display for all to see. And there are plenty of  ways you can embrace your unique flair.

If you gravitate towards a minimalist style, then keeping things clean and clutter free is a must. Or if you want to cook and eat as if you were in Tuscany, then opt for earthy tones and different texture combinations.

Did you know that you can even add a bit of personal flair to your oven? Our new Flex Design range allows you to choose one of four distinctive colours to add to the handles and side trims of your NEFF oven, cooktop, rangehood and coffee machine keeping its appearance consistent with the rest of your kitchen.

Your kitchen style options are endless. But at the end of the day, your kitchen is yours to cook, eat and live in – embrace your personality however you want to.

    3. What’s your kitchen layout?

Understanding what type of kitchen layout you want and can have is important. If you have a small space than a simple galley kitchen might be a good layout option. Or if you have more room, an L-shaped layout allows you to make the most of your kitchen without it feeling crammed or cluttered.

Knowing how much space you have can help you look at space-saving appliance solutions if you need them, such as a compact oven or built-in microwave.

    4. How can you maximise space in the kitchen?

You can free up precious bench space through clever shelving and vertical space– two of just many kitchen storage ideas you can implement during your renovation that will pay off in the long-term.

You should also consider whether you want to include a kitchen island. As the heart of the home becomes a multi-purpose space, a kitchen island can be a meal preparation, cooking, studying, working and socialising space. Depending on who lives in the home and how you intend to use it, the material of your island and the appliances you install – like a NEFF induction cooktop – must be considered also.

Of course, you can forgo bench-hogging appliances in favour of one that has various functions. A NEFF oven with Full Steam can be used as a steamer, oven or both, which means you can get rid of a bench-top steamer or cooktop steamer.

    5. What appliances are best for you?

Buying shiny new appliances is a fun part of a home renovation, but it can be hard to know where to begin.

To start with, think about the type of cooking you do and your needs. Do you do a lot of baking and need multiple ovens? Or do you need a cooktop that’s easy to clean?

The NEFF Slide & Hide® oven is a great option for those who want to make their cooking more convenient with the disappearing door. Meanwhile, the compact oven is great to stack with a full-sized oven to save space, time or combine certain features that you need for cooking. Want an oven that uses steam for baking and cooking? Then a NEFF oven with Full Steam, Added Steam or the all-new Steam Inject is the way to go – hello perfectly baked bread and hands-free risotto.

When it comes to cooktops, the induction variety have become popular due to their sleek look and ability to be cleaned with a simple wipe of a cloth. They’re also faster to heat up and cool down, which makes cooking meals a breeze.

Lastly, a dishwasher is a non-negotiable appliance in the kitchen. NEFF have three different types of dishwashers for you to choose from the complement your style – built-under, semi-integrated and fully integrated.

If you want to discover what appliances are a must-have in your new kitchen, then book a free demonstration with a NEFF cooking expert, who can help you discover which appliance is right for you.

    Upgrade your appliances

NEFF’s extensive range of appliances can help complete your transformation. Our Slide & Hide® oven range is a fantastic choice for those who want to enhance their cooking experience with a fully-disappearing door. And if you cook with steam frequently, or want to try out this cooking method, then a NEFF oven with Full Steam or Added Steam can take your home cooking to the next level.

The new NEFF Flex Design range is a great way to showcase your personal style with our quality appliances. Choose from one of four unique colours to add a touch of class in the kitchen. The best part? You can change the colours of your appliance handles and trims anytime you want, allow you to experiment with endless design possibilities.

Want to see these products in person? Then book in a free NEFF demonstration. Our NEFF kitchen experts will show you how these products can bring your dream kitchen to life.

    Update your cabinetry

Are your cupboards and kitchen cabinetry looking a bit tired? Then it’s time to give them a revamp! Whether it’s creating a bold contrast or simply giving them a touch up, a lick of paint can give your dated cupboards a new look. When choosing a colour, make sure you plan ahead – the last thing you want is to paint your cupboards a colour that doesn’t match the rest of your kitchen. When painting, proper prep is key. Make sure you apply painter’s tape, so you don’t get unwanted splatters on any surfaces (or on your appliances!).

Another fast and easy DIY kitchen upgrade you can do is change your kitchen cupboard handles. From shiny copper to deep black, they can make your kitchen feel fresh and modern with a simple turn of the screw. Want to take this further and have a cohesive kitchen style? Then our Flex Design range allows you to pick one of four colours for the trim and handles of your NEFF oven, rangehood, coffee machine and cooktop. This means you can perfectly match your appliances with your DIY work.

    Switch up your splashback

A splashback can make or break a kitchen – it’s a feature and a function all in one. So, if your splashback is dated or broken, it might be time for an update. There are a range of styles to choose from when looking to add a bit of sparkle to your kitchen, such as tiles or glass. Using tiles makes it easy to clean after you’ve cooked up a feast, while a stone surface will ensure your splashback will be stain and scratch resistant. Make sure you’re comfortable using silicone to apply the material to get the best possible results.

Hang up your pots and pans

If your kitchen drawers are overflowing, then try hanging up your pots and pans. This can help free up valuable space in your kitchen, while also creating an eye-catching feature above your head. Choose a hanger that matches the style of your kitchen, such as rustic or industrial, and ensure it’s securely fastened to the wall by finding the studs in your walls (especially if you’ve got an extensive collection of pots and pans).

    Change your benchtop

Changing your benchtop can completely revolutionise your kitchen. Different materials suit different purposes – quartz benchtops are easy to clean, while timber benchtops can be crafted as one-off, environmentally friendly pieces. Precision is everything when it comes to installing a benchtop, so make sure you accurately measure the length and width. If you’re looking to go the extra mile, then why not add a NEFF Integrated Cooktop to give your benchtop a sleek look. Want to match your cooktop with the rest of the kitchen? The NEFF Flex Design is a versatile accessory you can add to your cooktop for a seamless kitchen design.

  5. Renovating to sell? Consider these 8 things for your kitchen

Comments Off on Renovating to sell? Consider these 8 things for your kitchen

Your kitchen has played host to some almighty feasts and momentous occasions over the years. But now it’s time to sell and move on. And to get the most from your sale, you can renovate to sell. We share our top eight kitchen renovation tips so you can give your kitchen a makeover and make a profit on auction day.

    1. A fresh coat of paint

Whether you’re just repainting a feature wall, or revamping your cabinets, it’s incredible the difference some paint and a little bit of DIY know-how can make. Want a cool and light aesthetic? Blend greys and smoky blues for an airy modern kitchen. After something more unique? Bold, dark colours can provide different modern alternatives to greys and blacks – think deep blues and green, maybe even a touch of burgundy. If your kitchen is already using an eclectic palette, it might be time to neutralise. Whites and creams can give your kitchen an open, airy feel and lends itself perfectly to a modern Scandinavian feel.

    2. Upgrading cabinetry hardware

Updating your cabinetry’s hardware is an easy way to maximise your kitchen’s look and value when renovating to sell. Why not try replacing old handles with something modern? Circular brass pulls are an elegant way to uniformly make your kitchen stand out. Likewise matte or satin black finishes can make dark kitchens look spectacular. And all achievable with just a few smart choices and a power drill. Sometimes, tying a kitchen together is about simplicity. You could try a simple tubular bar handle pull in chrome, so as not to distract from your kitchen’s existing accents.

    3. Swap out your kitchen tap

Nowadays, there are many modern tap options to choose from – think sleek chrome and beautiful bronze. For functionality and a touch of vintage prestige, try a pull-down style commercial kitchen faucet for maximum function. Or for the truly modern, there are many elegant choices in chrome, with plenty of affordable options. Want to stay understated? Then consider a simple design with a dual-lever handle.

If you want to tie your whole kitchen together seamlessly, taps and all, then make sure you add the new NEFF Flex Design range. You can match the colour of your taps to your appliance’s handles and trimmings – how wonderful.

    4. The ‘working triangle’

Reorient your kitchen so that the main appliances are optimally spaced in a ‘working triangle’, which is commonly featured in U-shaped kitchen layouts. Buyers don’t want the oven too far away from the sink, and they’re especially vigilant when it comes to ensuring the fridge or oven door doesn’t obstruct the flow of movement through their new kitchen.

    5. Flexible layout

It’s a major move, but if your kitchen doesn’t serve your house and will lower the sale price of your home, then it’s time to give your kitchen layout an overhaul. Open plan kitchens are popular for a reason. They’re incredibly functional and great for entertaining, as they allow the host to effortlessly move through the space to top up drinks and mingle with guests. If you have boxy or closed-in kitchen layouts, you may want to consider removing walls to open up the space if budget allows.

    6. Integrated appliances

Kitchen design trends come and go, which is why it pays to stick to classic appliances and finishes when renovating to sell. A NEFF Slide & Hide® oven is a timeless appliance that can serve a multitude of functions. For instance, if you invest in a NEFF oven with Full Steam or Added Steam, then you have an oven that can also function as a steamer. Home appraisers have long held that consistency between appliances is incredibly important in communicating the tone of your kitchen and home, ensuring that they are of the same brand, finish and age.

If your home has a specific aesthetic, then why not have it match with your NEFF appliances? Our Flex Design range allows you to choose appliance trimmings and handles in four different colours: brushed bronze, anthracite grey, metallic silver and deep black. With these colour options, your design choices are truly endless. Additionally, you can choose from endless options with our seamless combination trims.

    7. Extra storage

Well-used kitchen storage will always attract buyers, which is why you should include a range of storage solutions when renovating to sell. Sliding shelves can be whipped out a moment’s notice and closed with the nudge of a knee, while maximising vertical storage with floor-to-ceiling cabinetry frees up coveted bench space.

Our ultimate storage tip when designing a kitchen to sell? Incorporating custom inbuilt cabinetry – from corner cupboards that utilise awkward space to pop-up shelves and hidden drawers. Finally, floating shelves don’t just look great: this smart storage idea invites buyers to dream about how they might personalise the space (antique Japanese tea set, anyone?). Before you know it, the offers will be flying in.

    8. Lighting upgrades

When it comes to resale value, the little things can make all the difference, like kitchen lighting. Something as simple as upgrading the pendant (hanging) lights in your kitchen can change the entire feel. Changing the material (glass. Copper, rattan) can give either an immaculate, austere feel to your kitchen (especially in the case of copper and other metals) or something warmer and eclectic (think glass, rattan and exposed globes). Shape also plays a role – a flattened, unobtrusive deksel (lid) shape creates a subtle finish, and lets a kitchen breathe. Whereas more ornate shapes such as Belmont or teardrop lights can become striking features if you need a little more from your kitchen.

  6. Our NEFF Guide to Starting a Kitchen Renovation

Comments Off on Our NEFF Guide to Starting a Kitchen Renovation

Work out your kitchen renovation budget

Before you start planning your dream kitchen, you need to budget for it first. There are elements of a kitchen renovation that you’ll need to budget for, including:

    – Big ticket items, which includes project management and appliances

    – Medium ticket items, which includes cabinetry and flooring

    – Small ticket items, which includes fixtures and decor

    – An emergency buffer, just in case there’s a hiccup or blow-out

And don’t forget to document your spending and expenses. This can help you can stay accountable and on track to not go over budget. It also allows you to tweak your budget in real-time.

The early stages are a good time to shop around for quotes, investigate insurance and finalise your scope of work. Think about ways you can save extra cash too. For example, can you sell current appliances to cover the cost of new ones? They might not go for much but every dollar counts.

    Plan, plan and plan

After determining what you can or can’t afford, it’s time to plan. Spending a good amount of time planning and designing is a great piece of advice from one of our NEFF customers, and it’s something that we wholeheartedly agree with.

To make this step easier, check out our easy-to-use Kitchen Renovation Checklist to plan your kitchen based on your needs. Whether it’s ticking all the appliances you want or sitting down with your builder to figure out the finer details, this checklist can help you keep track of the many moving parts of a kitchen renovation.

    Lock in your trades early

A common mistake people make in a kitchen renovation is not securing tradespeople early process. Tradies are busy people , which is why you need to seek out quotes as soon as you can.

Give them your plans and budget and work out how just realistic they are. They might even optimise your designs with new ideas, such as adding toe-kick storage or solutions for corner cupboards.

It’s also important that your contractors are licensed. Most states require licensing for renovations over $5,000 and you can look up tradies to see if they’re licensed on government sites. Victoria’s, for instance, is the Victorian Building Authority. Also beware of contractors who want you to sign on as an ‘owner builder’ when you aren’t doing any DIY work, as it may pass on unneeded liability.

Measure everything and create your floor plan

Work with your tradies to measure up your space. This includes everything from heights and widths of benches, appliances, splashbacks, walkways – the whole lot. can help you narrow down your cabinetry and appliance options, so you don’t accidentally order an oven that’s too small for your kitchen.

Use these measurements to sketch up a floor plan and start plotting it out. Think of things like your ‘work triangle’, which is the three points that you’ll use most and want to flow freely between. For many, this is the countertop, oven/stovetop, and sink. Pro-tip: scan and print out your scaled floor plan so you can do multiple drafts.

    Research your kitchen appliances

Do you research so you can find appliances that revolutionise the space – they will take a big chunk out of your budget, after all. Luckily the sleek designs of NEFF appliances can suit most kitchen styles, with unique features designed to help you make the most of this important room. A NEFF Slide & Hide® oven can be a great solution for tight areas while looking sleek and stylish, and a double-stacked oven is perfect for those home cooks who .

And with NEFF’s new Design Flex range, you can customise the handles and trimmings of your appliances to have a kitchen with a harmonious design. Going for an industrial look? Then the brushed bronze trims will elevate your space. Want something bolder instead? Then consider the deep black option instead. Your design possibilities are truly endless!

Book in a product demonstration or phone consultation and our NEFF experts can help guide you. Take in your floor plan and measurements and they’ll give professional advice that can be foundational to your renovation.

    Research and be inspired

Start looking at everything you can think of to find inspiration for your kitchen’s look and feel. This will help you develop a taste for what you like and what you wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole.

Settling on a style for your kitchen will help you finalise the hard decisions you might’ve made – from paint colours through to lighting types. If you’re struggling to find some inspiration, check out some of our favourite sources of inspiration:

Make a schedule and get to work

Knowing the order of operations can go a long way and help everyone stay on top of the renovation. For example, you might start with demolition and plumbing, followed by doing the doors and windows. This will be different for everyone, but once you’ve mapped it all out, it’s time to get to work.

When getting into the swing of things, keep track of your budgeting daily to ensure you’re not overspending. Consider having a mudroom (or mud area) to store tools and work clothes to protect other areas of the house.

It’s also handy to keep a daily diary of the work and costs. You’ll likely go through this process again and having a reference for what worked and what didn’t will make a world of difference for round two.

  7. Where to save and splurge on your kitchen renovation

Comments Off on Where to save and splurge on your kitchen renovation

    What can you splurge on?

    Benchtops

Your kitchen benchtop can easily be one of the most-used elements of your newly renovated kitchen. So, investing in a durable and practical benchtop that suits your space is a must. And while materials such as stone might cost more, their tough nature and style will add practicality and aesthetics to your kitchen. You can also customise your benchtop to suit your kitchen to make the most of your space.

    Dishwasher

A good-quality, reliable dishwasher is essential for any kitchen renovation design. They can be the difference between a quick clean-up at mealtime and spending extra hours in the kitchen. Picking a dishwasher with a good rating and functions like NEFF’s Vario Speed, the speed on demand function that is a perfect time saver, enables you to spend more time on important things, like cooking. NEFF’s range of fully-integrated, semi-integrated and built-under dishwashers also have helpful inclusions like Door Open Sensor, which lets you push the door to gently open, or Silent Drive, which reduces the noise your dishwasher makes for extra quiet operation.

    Oven

If you love cooking a Sunday roast or baking up a storm (hello chocolate cookies!), a top-quality oven is an appliance worth your investment. There are different types of ovens out there, so it’s a good idea to think about the size and type of oven you will need based on what you like to cook. Are you someone with a high level or cooking? Or are you more of a recreational baker?

The NEFF built-in double oven combines functionality with space and allows you to cook different meals at the same time, meaning you can have dinner and desert baking away in unison.

Our popular Slide & Hide® oven makes retrieving your cooking easier with its fully retractable door that slides under the cavity and out of your way.

And the NEFF steam oven range with Full Steam can elevate your cooking experience by adding moisture to food that is prone to dry out, such as salmon.

    Overall layout

It can be easy to get caught up in choosing the appliances you want – but making sure your kitchen layout is practical and well planned is one of the most important things to spend money on. Take your time and consult an expert if needed to make your kitchen the best it can be.

    What can you save on?

    Microwave

If you’re someone who prefers to cook with an oven or stovetop, a microwave might not be high on your priority list. Choosing a cheaper microwave could help save on costs. If it’s space you’re wanting to capitalise on, consider hybrid appliances – like the NEFF built-in compact oven with microwave function, which gives you two appliances in one.

    Cabinetry

The cabinetry in a kitchen is important, but it can also be expensive. See if you can save on costs by upcyclying old material or sourcing items from second-hand dealers. Social media groups and curbside pickups can also be a goldmine, with many people selling old items for cheap or giving them away for free. And a fresh coat of paint can do wonders in transforming a cupboard from old to new and can add character with high gloss, matt and distressed finishes. You can also cut down on costs by having a go at the task yourself, reducing the need to hire tradespeople.

    Lighting

Lighting in a kitchen doesn’t have to be flashy, but it does have to be practical. By installing ample lighting above your key cooking stations – your preparation bench, cooktop and sink – you will ensure your kitchen is functional at all hours of the day. You should also consider purchasing LEDs and CFLs globes, as they are the most energy efficient types of lighting and will serve you better in the long run. Kitchen lighting doesn’t have to be expensive, but making sure the lights themselves are in a useful position will allow you more time to concentrate on what’s important: food.

If you’re looking for other items to save or splurge on, consider the type and quality of your flooring, splashback, pantry size and storage space. These areas can all be tailored to meet budget requirements with options for high and lower-quality products available.

Not only does it have great cooking features like Circo Therm® and Full Steam, but it also has a fully disappearing oven door to make checking on your blueberry dump cake or hasselback potatoes (or whatever else you’re cooking) easy as pie.

The best part about these ovens, is that they have an innovative cleaning function that does the heavy lifting for you. This function traps the grease and grim that can occur during cooking and breaks it all down for you. And when you cook with high temperatures, the walls of your oven clean themselves – how neat is that!

You can also add another NEFF oven on top of beside the Slide & Hide® for optimal cooking. Two ovens is also a great option for those with a growing family who want a bit of extra fire-power when it comes to meal time.

Whether you’re into an industrial or Hampton’s style, or just want to add an extra feature to your space, hanging a pendant light – or a series of pendant lights – can make it feel like new. Lights can also help add a layer of depth to your room that may not have previously been there.

  9. Top considerations when planning a kitchen renovation

Comments Off on Top considerations when planning a kitchen renovation

    Who will be using it?

This is definitely the most important consideration. If you’re planning your own dream kitchen, you’ll have a better understanding of your cooking habits and the dream appliances or functions you’re looking for. However, if you’re planning a kitchen renovation with the aim of renting out or selling a property you’ll want to pick more standard appliances that will be impressive, but with a broad appeal.

So while you might need two ovens, your standard renter might only use the one. Renters and new home buyers also love to see the latest appliances before they sign on the dotted line, with most saying that a functional dishwasher is a must-have.

    1. Cooktop solutions

Your cooktop setup can help to direct the rest of your kitchen planning and give you an indication for the available bench space. This applies to the size and even the type of cooktop you will need.

Nowadays, there are many cooktop options available. If your cooktop is against a wall, an induction or gas cooktop may be a good choice. But if you have room for an island benchtop, the vented cooktop – which combines a rangehood and induction cooktop into one appliance – is a great option. This way you can achieve unobstructed views of your kitchen and living space, without the need for an overhead extractor fan.

    2. Oven needs

Do you need two ovens or one? Will a compact oven fill your needs or do you need to search out something full-sized? Your cooking habits are important to factor in choosing the right oven – do you like baking sourdough bread each week? Or maybe you’re more of a Sunday roast kind of person. Working out what type of cook you are can help you choose the right appliances to suit your needs.

You should also consider how much vertical space is available in your kitchen plan. We also recommend having your oven at eye height rather than under your benchtop – this makes for easier access to taste and baste and monitor your cooking, especially if you choose to have a NEFF Slide & Hide® oven.

If you’ve got limited space, a wall-mounted oven may be the solution. You’ll also have many more options available to you, with many built-in microwave and combination microwave oven solutions on the market. In fact, NEFF’s range of microwaves include multiple options for vertical ovens that take up minimal vertical space, and help prepare delicious meals with faster and easier cooking.

    3. Your floorplan

Ultimately, the floorplan of your home will play a huge role in how you can plan your kitchen. A narrow kitchen walkway will not only make a floating island pretty difficult, but will benefit from further space saving solutions like our Slide&Hide® oven doors. While some renovations will give you wiggle room to make a kitchen more spacious, often it is the floorplan that guides the planning.

A well-planned kitchen considers your cooking flow, with bench space for food preparation that has easy access to your appliances so you’re not running around to add ingredients to your cooking, and so that clean up doesn’t have to seem like a trek to the other side of the house.
